We welcome you back to OSA-Spectrum with our fourth issue of our popular e-zine. We have received many emails complimenting us on our e-zine. We thank all of you for creating and sharing your wonderful art and for spreading the word about OSA and OSA-Spectrum. Rubber stampers are notoriously known for purchasing items intended for other purposes at hardware stores, office and science supply stores--the list is endless. Painting pads, formica chips, screening material, hinges, forceps, and nose droppers are but just a few of these odd things we can find in our stamping areas. In this issue of OSA-Spectrum, we look to the medical field to use an item that has been around for at least two hundred years .the microscope slide! Microscope slides can be used in various ways to enhance and expand your artwork. These glass slides come in various sizes and can be stamped, embossed, layered, soldered, you name it! They are very versatile. Slides may be used to make pins and brooches. They may also be used along with their slide mailers, to create little shrines or cardboard books. Our team of creative
artists took the challenge to create artwork with slide mailers that
could hold one, two and even four slides. After looking at the samples
and reading the directions, we challenge you to create your own art
with these very popular slide mailers. If you have a gallery, we encourage
you to post and share your creation. The Projects section has samples and how to do the techniques illustrated in the samples. The Gleanings section includes a brief how-to. The Web Links page has links to other sites on the web that have samples or information on slide mailers, including where to buy them. The Gallery contains more examples of slide mailer art from other OSA members. The Bibliography points you towards how-to books. We hope you enjoy this fourth zine! Contributors: |
